Rupert Matthews, Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, has announced the reappointment of Rani Mahal as his Deputy.
Rupert Matthews, who was re-elected in May this year, said that as his Deputy Rani Mahal had made a significant contribution to the work of his office since her appointment in 2022.
“Rani took the reins on several key strands in my first term, and I have every confidence that she will do so again,” he said. “She was pivotal to our very successful engagement programme with Parish Councils and we have big plans to build on this in the future with other networks.
“In addition, I am creating a new programme to enable me to hear directly from victims about the services they need from us. Rani will be a key figure in that area, which will also include scrutiny on our commissioned services.”
Rani Mahal added: “We have some exciting new plans for engagement with groups and individuals and I’m really pleased to be part of this. In this job you get to meet so many different people and hear what they feel about the policing service they receive. Then we can build on that information to really make a difference.”
Mr Matthews’ decision was endorsed at a Confirmation Hearing of the County’s Police and Crime Panel earlier this week.
