I am delighted to say that I am now able to report back on the issues raised with me on my recent Rutland Community Day.
Oakham
Langham Lane north of the town has a 7.5 ton weight limit for vehicles. The signage is in poor condition [county council issue] and is never enforced.
This issue has been raised with the Council and I await a response.
Whitwell
There are concerns about speeding on the A606.
I can confirm that the speed van has visited ten times so far this year, for an average of around 93 minutes each. This is commensurate with visits to other sites.
Speeding on the A6121 west of Ketton village
So far this year the Speed Van has visited 14 times, spread between High Street, Luffenham Road and Stamford Road.
Speeding on the A47 near Morcott, especially near the Two Flags café
Morcott has had 3 visits in 2023 so far. There have been issues with the 50mph Traffic Order but these have now been resolved and allows for enforcement at both ends of the village.
Uppingham – Todds Piece and Gainsborough Road. ASB in the park: graffiti. Also glass bottles have been smashed and the shards thrown around the sensory garden.
The Beat team aware and paying special attention, they are currently trying to arrange access to CCTV to recover potential offender details
Uppingham - Ayston Road, the Harley Davidson dealership is the unwitting focus of some poor behaviour. Some Sundays over 150 motorbikes gather here, they can be parked on pavements, on yellow lines and across dropped kerbs. also concerns that some bikes might have been illegally modified to be louder.
The Beat team have begun to monitor dangerous parking and other problems and will take enforcement action as appropriate.
Preston - Speeding on the A6003, especially going north from the village
Weight limit of 7.5 tonne on Cross Lane is frequently ignored with lorries becoming stuck where the lane suddenly narrows.
The whole of the A6003 is an enforcement route. As with Morcott, issues with the traffic order between Manton and Oakham have now been recently resolved and allows for enforcement on the whole stretch of the A6003 north of Preston.
Between Preston and Oakham 9 visits have been made in 2023, an average of 96 minutes per visit.
Speeding in Braunstone Road, Oakham
The police will inspect the road to see if there is a suitable location for the Speed Van to be positioned.
