We live in a democracy, but that works only because people like you go to vote to put in office the candidate who puts forward the policies that you agree with. If you don't vote, a candidate you disagree with might win and you have to live under policies that you don't like.
The elections for Leicestershire County Council, and for the Police and Crime Commissioner in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are due to take place on Thursday 6 May this year, though they may be delayed by a few weeks.
We do not yet know the circumstances under which the PCC and County Council elections will be held. If you have any concerns about voting in person at a polling station due to concerns about covid, it would make sense to sign up for a postal vote if you have not already done so.
