A survey asking residents of Quorn and Mountsorrel Castle their opinions on crime and policing in the village has been launched by local councillor Jane Hunt and by Conservative candidate to be Police and Crime Commissioner, Rupert Matthews.
Cllr Jane Hunt said “Quorn is a wonderful place to live and is generally safer than some other areas of our county. But that does not mean we are free of crime. The past three months have seen nearly 200 crimes recorded in Quorn and Barrow. Theft and burglary were most numerous, but anti-social behaviour was also notable in the figures. We need to improve the safety of our families and communities. This survey will provide us with the information that we need to take the necessary action.”
Rupert Matthews agreed, adding “The Conservative government of Boris Johnson has been taking urgent steps to improve policing. Not only are we getting an additional 20,000 police officers, but stop and search is to be made more effective in tackling street crime and new guidelines on sentencing promise a more effective deterrence for some high profile crimes. The Conservatives are working to improve policing. With a Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland we can look forward to more effective use of resources.”
The survey will be delivered to the village and nearby communities over coming weeks. If for any reason you do not receive a copy, You can take the Crime Survey on-line by clicking the link above.
