On 27 Sept Rupert attended a meeting in the European Parliament organised by fellow Conservative MEP John Flack [Eastern] and the Fur Free Alliance. The meeting highlighted the way in which fur products are often mislabelled in a way to mislead the public.
Speaking after the meeting, Rupert said "The use of fur on clothing and other products is very controversial and arouses strong passions in many people. Accurate labelling is essential if people are to know what they are buying, so that they can choose to wear fur or not to wear fur. It is both surprising and disgraceful that the law is flouted in such a flagrant manner both in the UK and in other European countries. In some countries over 90% of clothing items that featured real fur were incorrectly labelled as not including real fur at all. I am supporting John Flack in his campaign to have the law enforced."
