I recently spent a Saturday in Melton Mowbray market with Cllr Margaret Glancy and Cllr Pam Posnett talking to shoppers about crime and policing in the town and nearby areas.
We were also handing out copies of my Crime Survey. The purpose of this survey is to provide mewith the information that I need to formulate a plan that will properly answer the needs of the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Several of the people I spoke to in Melton that day praise the individual police officers who they meet, but are unhappy with the level of service that they receive when there is a problem. I am told that police take too long to arrive as they are based too far away from several rural areas. It is vital that Birstall and all our communities have the service from our police that they deserve. As Conservative Candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner for our area I am committed to a study of where resources are currently allocated with a view to rebalance resources to reflect where crime and the fear of crime is most prevalent.
