Today, Rupert Matthews met with Governor of Balochistan, HE Muhammad Khan Achakzai, and the Pakistani Ambassador to Belgium, HE Naghana Hashmi, in the European Parliament.
Speaking after the meeting, Rupert said "I was delighted to meet with Mr Achakzai and Ms Hashmi to discuss the economic future of Pakistan and the potential for increased trade with that country. I was especially interested to learn more about the construction of road and rail links from Pakistan to China, together with their plans for a new, major port to handle the expected flow of trade. Pakistan is an old friend of Britain and a member of the Commonwealth. I wish them well in their endeavours and would like to thank my Conservative colleague, Amjad Bashir MEP, for arranging this most useful and interesting meeting."
