Earlier this month Rupert Matthews MEP met with Chris Clayton who is Managing Director of crop protection firm, Agrovista UK. The company, which moved to the Nottingham Science and Technology Park last year, invited Rupert to their head office to discuss the impact of Brexit, their plans for the future as well as the issue of glyphosate.
Following the visit, Rupert commented:
“I enjoyed meeting Chris to discuss a number of issues including Brexit and agriculture policy. Clearly there is going to be a huge change in the way things are decided due to our decision to leave the European Union as powers will be brought back from Brussels. We also discussed the issue of glyphosate, an issue that I have dealt with in the European Parliament and one which caused a great deal of concern within the UK farming community as well as for companies such as Agrovista UK.
“I am pleased that the company has settled well in their new home in Nottingham and wish them luck with their plans for the future. I’d like to thank Chris for spending time with me discussing these issues.”
Chris said: “Having MEP’s who understand the issues facing the Agricultural Industry and who are supportive of our post Brexit needs is invaluable. I very much enjoyed meeting Rupert and will continue to engage with him over the period to Brexit."
