Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Rupert Matthews is inviting charities and community groups to bid for funding to help prevent crime and increase public safety.
Applications have opened for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland PCC's second Commissioner's Community Safety Fund round of 2023-2024. A further round will open in December.
The PCC has promised to invest up to £400k to help community-based projects and services tackle crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) to help the delivery of his Police and Crime Plan.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available for projects designed to protect the public from harm, stop reoffending and protect people from being exploited or drawn into crime.
Mr Matthews said: "My Community Safety Fund is designed to reduce anti-social behaviour, build stronger and more resilient communities and divert young people from crime. It supports local community groups, charities and special projects when they might otherwise struggle to find funding.
"So far, it has proved popular and successful.
"I have already seen the results of proactive activity and investment in areas which are struggling with drug crime, anti-social behaviour and violence.
"Local people, supporting their community for a better quality of life, is important. I look forward to seeing the applications."
Grants are available for projects that support any of the priorities of the Police and Crime Plan including the delivery of new provision or expanding existing provision.
