Oadby & Wigston MP invites the public to key meeting with officers and Police Commissioner to discuss crime and anti-social behaviour
Oadby & Wigston MP Neil O’Brien has called a public meeting with local officers and the Police Commissioner in response to the recent spate of burglaries and anti-social behaviour in the Borough. Several residents have contacted Neil concerned about their safety or have been victims of crime themselves.
Neil said:
“I have been working closely with officers locally, as well as the Police Commissioner, Rupert Matthews, to try and tackle these issues. The police have really stepped up their activity in the area, increasing patrols and making arrests. It’s been great to see perpetrators brought to justice, but people are understandably still concerned, and many others are also worried about anti-social behaviour in the area.
“I thought it would be useful to host a public meeting to look at how we can deter burglaries and deal with this anti-social behaviour. It will be attended by local officers, the Police Commissioner, and elected councillors. By working together, I am hoping that we can really crack down on this once and for all. Residents should feel safe in their homes and their neighbourhoods.
“I hope that as many residents as possible can come along with questions, suggestions and ideas. It will be a chance to discuss ways in which we can make the Borough safer for all of us.”
Police Commissioner, Rupert Matthews, added:
“I welcome the chance to be a part of this public meeting to discuss burglaries and anti-social behaviour in Oadby. I am in constant contact with Neil about this incredibly important issue. I am pleased to see that patrols have increased and that the police will attend the meeting. I am looking forward to hearing the views of the community and I am sure that we can collectively tackle this issue.”
The meeting will be held on Friday 16th February at 6pm at the Brocks Hill Council Offices, Washbrook Lane, Oadby, Leicester, LE2 5JJ. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by emailing Neil at: [email protected].
