Rupert Matthews, who represents the East Midlands region in the European Parliament, visited the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre recently to see the new exhibitions. Before becoming an MEP, Rupert was a historian and publisher of history books so naturally the visit was especially interesting to him.
He commented:
“I greatly enjoyed my visit to the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre. The exhibits were fantastic and really brought to life the story of the Battle of Bosworth, both from a point of view of King Richard III and Henry VII, as well as the ordinary people that were involved. Despite my interest in history I learnt a great deal and I thought the exhibits were engaging.
“I’d like to thank Jane Betts, Heritage Centre Manager, for her warm welcome as well as Richard Knox, Heritage Development Manager, who showed me around.
“As an MEP, I am keen to promote the heritage of the East Midlands. The Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre is a must if you want to know more about this fascinating period of our history.”
